Recessed lighting installation in Austin: plan the room first
Good recessed lighting starts with what happens below the ceiling: a kitchen counter, a dining table, artwork, or the place you read. DC Electric plans fixture positions, light levels, and controls around the way you use the room, then gives you a written scope and price before installation.
Replacing fixtures or adding new recessed lights?
A replacement can often use an existing lighting location. Adding recessed lights means checking access above the ceiling, locating framing and existing wiring, and deciding how each group of lights will be switched. In a finished room without attic access, the wiring route can affect installation time and the amount of ceiling work.
- Layout: balance task lighting and general light while considering counters, furniture, and glare.
- Fixtures: discuss trim size, beam spread, color temperature, and the fixture rating needed for its location.
- Controls: consider LED and dimmer compatibility together, including dimming range, flicker, and smart controls.
- Finishing: agree on access openings and who handles drywall patching, texture, and paint before work starts.
What changes the price of a lighting installation?
Fixture count is only part of the scope. Ceiling access and height, wiring distance, additional switches, and the fixtures you choose all matter. Tell us whether you want to supply fixtures or have help choosing them. An onsite evaluation lets us confirm those details instead of quoting from a photograph.
Indoor, outdoor, and landscape lighting
Under-cabinet lights, chandeliers, and recessed fixtures need different placement and control choices. Outside, moisture exposure, glare toward neighboring properties, and the wiring route affect the design. We discuss the scope and applicable permit requirements before scheduling the work.
